More About Hydraulic Fittings
What Are Hydraulic Fittings?
Hydraulic Fittings are typically attached to the end of a hose, pipe or tube and are used to convey fluids like hydraulic fluids, fuel, oil or gases throughout a system. Hydraulic fittings are usually either a 37° flare, NPT or flareless configuration and made from carbon steel or stainless steel. The most common alloy for hydraulic fittings is 316 stainless steel.
Common Applications
Hydraulic fittings are used mostly in hydraulic systems on aircraft, power turbines & heavy equipment but can be used outside hydraulic systems as well. Typically you will find hydraulic fittings on the ends of hoses, tube assemblies or piping but they can also be used to adapt 2 hoses or a hose and a tube together without the chance of leaking.
Benefits of Hydraulic Fittings
The benefit of using hydraulic fittings and adapters is the flexibility it give you in your system. There are many different situations where you need to adapt a hose to a tube or one type of connection to a different type of connection. Hydraulic fittings and adapters give you the flexibility to change or adapt to what needs to be changed and know you will be able to adapt and seal the connection efficiently.
How to Buy Hydraulic Fittings
When buying hydraulic fittings and adapters please make sure you pay attention to the root of the part number. For example a 2403 is a 37° JIC union while a 2404 is a 37°JIC x Male Pipe Thread. If you dont pay attention to the root of the part number you could choose the incorrect hydraulic fitting. Online Metals Depot stocks our hydraulic fittings and adapters in 316 stainless steel.
